Dual Booting Windows-Linux from Scratch

Windows,Linux,Unix are the important operating systems as you know,worlds 90%of computers runs on windows,windows is very user friendly OS when compared to linux,but windows can’t able to completely fulfill the basic needs of an web servers,but linux can do that.

So let us know how to install Windows and Linux on a same machine,Linux got hundreds of distros for example Ubuntu,Linux Mint,Fedora,Red hat,puppy linux etc etc,in this tutorial i’ll explain you how to dual boot Fedora with Windows 7
ok lets get into the job.

Stage 1:Installing Windows

Well installing windows is not a tough job,i’ll explain this in brief,first turn on your computer and insert your windows installation disk,hit appropriate key on the keyboard to get into the boot menu,in my PC boot menu opens with f12 button.Press it,the number of available booting media will be listed there select DVD/CD there,then follow the instructions on screen,this is how you can install windows.
OK now you installed the windows on your PC lets head to the next stage.

Stage 2:Partitioning the Hard drive for Linux

now this is somewhat tricky but its easy,open disk management on your windows OS(windows 7 in my case)

 

you will see your hard drive and few details about it,now we need to partition this drive in-order to install Linux(fedora in my case),now click on the drive then right click and select shrink(follow screenshot)

 

Usually any linux Distros doesn’t need disk space more than 6GB,i’m shrinking the drive by 6GB,its up to you how much space you leave for the second OS(linux) but maintain minimum of 5 GB for it.
After shrinking you will see an unallocated disk space,

 

Now just leave that space as it is and restart your Computer,I’ll tell you why we left that in next stage.

Stage 3:Installing Linux

This is the final stage “installing the linux”,Yes its time for linux now,Pop in your linux installation disk into the tray, as usual go to boot menu and select DVD/CD.
Live CD boots up ,you can use linux now but its restricted as it is now running from the CD live!!,now the time for installing linux,click on install icon on the desktop

 

then just complete all the customization options and advance forward,Now Where it asks storage media type just select fixed storage device click next,then in the next screen the installer will ask you for installation type Just select Use free space,and then click write changes to the disk

 

Bit confused isn’t it???where does that free space came from????Yes your guess is correct!!! that free space is nothing but the unallocated space on the hard disk,Linux installer will format that space and installs linux in it.

Yes you successfully installed linux(fedora here) on your PC now simply restart your computer,If everything is correct then you must see an boot loader like this at the startup

Here if you select “other” option then it will boot windows OS

well this method is not mandatory for dual booting,but its an easiest one,Ubuntu,Linux Mint have the ability to install inside the windows with a single click,but for alongside install this is the simplest and quickest way.

Procedure

First download that software,run it and click agree,Now select the Linux distro or windows 7 or vista that you want to install on USB.

Now select the Disk image(.iso) and select the USB drive and click create

Now the program runs 7Zip to extract the ISO and copy it into the USB drive

Wait for few minutes,the program will install the OS on a USB flash drive

Thats very simple method to install on a USB drive.

The latest versions of Ubuntu has an built in tool to create bootable USBs,but its restricted for only Ubuntu.It comes in both Linux and windows versions,

Flashing nokia with PHOENIX

 

 

Hello friends,i’m here to explain another way of flashing your nokia phones,i.e by using Phoenix service suite.
Phoenix is an official service software by nokia,you can download Phoenix from Here.
To flash your phone via phoenix,first you need firmware files you can download firmware by using navifirm(refer flashing with j.a.f topic).Download all the Six files from navifirm,next install Phoenix.
After installing it now open phoenix goto File>>Manage connections connect your phone to PC using data cable and now follow the following screenshot to make connection with your phone.

 

press next and then press finish in step three.

 

move the usb connection below by using arrow keys in the right.
now you created connection,next step is important one place the all six firmware files you downloaded from Navifirm inside products folder found inside phoenix installation folder,i.e if you installed phoenix in C drive then
your path looks like this,

 

C:/program files/Nokia/Phoenix/Products/RM-ABC/(your firmware files here)

here RM-ABC refers to the folder in which your firmware files are kept inside products folder,where ABC refers to the rm version of firmware i.e RM-237,RM-347 etc
now goto file menu in Phoenix and click on open product,you will get this window just click ok.

 

Now click on flashing menu then click firmware update,you will get this type of screen,click as show in the screenshot,

 

next you will get list of firmwares that is available,click on relevant one,

 

Thats it now your firmware files will be selected,now remove battery of your phone,tick flash dead phone option and click on Refurbish button,now phoenix starts flashing your phone,after few seconds phoenix will tell you to press the power button,now put the battery back and press power button.Flashing process may take 15-20minutes don’t disconnect the phone till phoenix says Done!!.
Phoenix is the safest way to flash your phone,it can revive dead phone very easily.

 

Don’t rename .mcusw into .c0r and no need to close PC suite

for s40 v3 phones change the value of 28th line to 2 from 1,that is “28 2″
for s40 v5 and v6 phones change the value of 48th line to 2,that is “48 2″

some phones show only three fields on their pp file,then just add 48 2 below set 1 like this

step 2:
now tick upload pp then hit service button,your phone will now go into test mode an pop window will come and select the edited pp,J.A.F will upload pp file to your phone,and phone will restart automatically,that’s it now you hacked your phones security.

Multitasking

After you hacked you phones security then take the application you want to minimize ,then extract that jar file to a folder then modify “manifest.mf” file of that jar file,it is found inside manifest folder,then add this code at very last line of the manifest.mf file
Nokia-MIDlet-no-exit: True

make sure that ‘MID’ in above code are in capitals,

now repack that jar file and install it in your mobile,then just run the application now just press red button the application will not ask you to exit this time rather it disappears(minimizes),click on the application again to restore it.

multitasking works only with s40 v5 and higher phones,but you can hack security of any s40 phones

there are many cases you may set an different security code and forgotten it,or somebody else changed your security codes,its so easy to unlock nokia phones only if your phones security keygaurd is off if you locked keypad too then dead flashing is the only choice.

It is the only time when we easily fall sick, succumb to stress and peer-pressure leading to anxiety, frustration, anger and many other emotions that were dormant since sometime.
This world is tough and so are the people. To deal with every individual requires a talent so special that it needs a different league of thinking. To top it all, being students we all by default carry an extra burden called ‘Studies’ which tags along right from a tender age of four. But we can’t play the blame-game, no one told us things would be easy. When we were born, our mothers dint tell us that life is going to be a breeze and clear sailing! Even as a child we got hungry, thirsty, bored, tired, sick, hot, cold, scared, confused and so much more. As we grew up we learnt to deal with them and control certain elements in life. Even as adults we face the same situations, but these have become so insignificant when compared to bigger situations that clog our path.
It’s all about our attitude. With constant news reports about catastrophes striking every country in the world, starving people, natural disasters, political strife, warring nations, terrorism, pollution, health concerns, and over-crowding, both local and nationally, do you think studying is such a major part?  Should you just waste away your time in such negativity?
Assuming we have only one crack at a lifetime, we get to make the most out of it as possible. Proper planning can not only make studying so much easier but also a lot of fun. More so, looking at the positives of all the things we do, can make our work enjoyable and most importantly presentable.
